The way we teach Music is to encourage children to sing for pleasure and collectively to an audience. We try to have fun with songs and incorporate musical instruments into our singing whenever possible. We also experiment with vocal sounds and instruments in creative music lessons.
As part of our curriculum we encourage:
Children to use voices to sing songs and speak chants and rhymes.
Children to play tuned and un-tuned instruments musically.
Children to listen carefully to recorded music. For example, Peter and the Wolf, The Carnival of the Animals, or The Nutcracker Suite.
Children to experiment with sounds, creating, selecting and combining them to produce music.
