Extended Entitlement (15)

Extended entitlement 15 hours:

Some children will be entitled to an extra 15 hours per week. The parents have to be both working and earning a minimum of £120 per week (average over the year) and not over £100,000 per year. There are other criteria for this so please have a look at for full details.

Parents of entitled children will have to apply for an eligibility code before the start of the term (cut off dates as above)Please vist or for full information on how to apply. I recommend parents start the processes as early as possible because it can take some time to get the eligibility code from HMRC.

Parents will then have to renew the code approximately every 3 months. HMRC say they will remind parents to update their codes. This has not always happened and a lot of update reminders have been sent to peoples spam boxes. So please check regularly that the code is up to date. It’s a simple process of confirming that your circumstances have not changed.

This is only a very simplistic description of the process involved. Please look at the websites mentioned above for full details.

There is also other funding available for children with special educational of physical requirements. I you think your child might be entitled to these please look at the website or ask a member of staff for details.

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

This is a support payment which is specifically for the child to assist with their development. It is a one off payment made to pre-school each year. It is available to children who’s parents are on low incomes, single parents or were the child is adopted. For full information on the criteria and funding please visit or call 01629 532800

Universal Free Hours (15)

Universal free 15 hours:

All 3 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week. To claim this all you need to do is provide pre-school with your contact details and we will sort the rest. If you are already using some of your free entitlement at another school this is no problem, just let us know how much you have already used. The cut off dates for the child turning three are outlined below:

  • Autumn term, Child turns three on or before 31st August
  • Spring term, Child turns three on or before the 31st December
  • Summer term, Child turns three on or before the 31st April

Some children are entitled to the free 15 hours from 2 years. This is means tested so parents will have to check to see if they are entitled with Derbyshire County Council.

This can now be done online. Go to this address and then click on the heading free childcare on the left hand side of the screen. Then click on free childcare for 2 year olds. This will take you to a page with all the criteria and application form. Or call DCC between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, tel: 01629 539317 or 01629 539316 or 01629 539319.

Tax Free Childcare

Tax Free Childcare

The government has started a new tax free childcare scheme. Parents will be able to open a new childcare account. For every £8 a parent pays into their childcare account, the government will pay in an extra £2. Parents can get up to £2000 government support per child per year towards their childcare costs - that's up to £500 every 3 months. If they have a disabled child, they can receive up to £4000 per child – a total of £1000 every 3 months. They can then use this money to pay their childcare provider.
